Volunteer: Saturday Morning Respite Buddy – August EventGive parents a morning to recharge while creating a fun and memorable experience for a child or sibling. Embrace Special Needs Ministry hosts monthly respite events for families impacted by disability, providing children with a safe, engaging environment while parents enjoy a few hours of rest. As a Respite Buddy, you'll be paired one-on-one with a child with a disability or their sibling (ages 3–11) for a morning filled with fun, friendship, and encouragement. During our August event, we'll enjoy water slides, a dance party, snacks, and a movie. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that can get wet, as you'll likely join in—or at least get splashed! Breakfast and a brief volunteer orientation will be provided before the event begins. This opportunity is perfect for students interested in special education, therapy, psychology, social work, ministry, nursing, or anyone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a meaningful impact. All volunteers must complete Brentwood Baptist Church's volunteer onboarding process, including a background check, prior to serving. If you're interested, we'd love to help you get started.
