Join us for one of the coolest events of the year - literally! The 2026 Polar Plunge | Music City is a fun and energetic fundraising event where participants take a chilly dip to support Special Olympics Tennessee athletes. We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make this event a success!

Volunteer roles include: 

Event Set-Up from 8a - 10:30a Moving tables & chairs to event tents, Distribute directional signage, Set up tents + Hang sponsor bannersGreeter from 9a - 1pAssist plungers with directions to park in designated areas, Maintain entrance to restricted parking area (handicap, VIP’s, Media & Emergency only) + Greet people at entrance to eventConcessions, Incentives, Registration + Merchandise  from 9a - 2p Greet attendees, Sell concessions food & beverage + Keep concession tent clean and organized Distribute event t-shirt to all registered plungers + Distribute Incentives for Plungers who qualifySell past & current Plunge/SOTN Souvenir Merchandise + Distribute Volunteer t-shirts Check in all plungers (online & walk-in registrations), Receiving, counting and recording of monies being turned in by plungers, Data entry + Cheer on plungers!  Plunge Host from 10a - 2p  Direct plungers through the pre-plunging areas (photo area, secure personal items, plunging instructions, etc.), Help maintain the plunger changing tents + Work in the Celebration Tent helping with food/beverage/trash/etc.Beer Garden from 10:30a - 2p *must be 21 or older Check ID’s, Sell beer tickets + Serve beerTear-Down 1p - 4pPacking of event supplies, Taking down tables & chairs, Tear down tents + Take down sponsor banners

Volunteer: Booth at Seniors on the Move: Day of Love and Black History 2.13.26

GNRC will have a booth at Seniors on the Move Day of Love and Black History hosted at Fisk University. We will share information about GNRC Aging and Disability Programing and our Medicare Counseling Program (SHIP).

Volunteers need to track how many people see the booth, greet passers-by, and give GNRC/SHIP information as appropriate. Volunteers will need to transport a folding table.

Volunteer: Meal delivery for FiftyForward Fresh/Meals on Wheels

FiftyForward Fresh Meals on Wheels delivers healthy meals to the doorsteps of older adults on specific routes in the Nashville community. We are looking for friendly, compassionate volunteers to deliver nutritious meals, create a social connection, and provide weekly check-ins with our clients. 
 
Routes are currently available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and include the following neighborhoods to choose from: 12 South, Donelson, Bellevue, Leah Rose Towers (Green Hills), and Trevecca Towers.

Meals are picked up between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. from FiftyForward Knowles Routes take approximately 60 to 90 minutes to complete, depending on the number of deliveries on the route and time spent with each client (8-10 meals is average).FiftyForward Fresh delivery drivers must complete a background check (paid for by FiftyForward). You can also sign up to be a substitute driver if you are not available for a weekly commitment 

This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity that greatly impacts the health and well-being of older adults experiencing food insecurity. Volunteers also help by creating a community connection that combats loneliness and social isolation.

Help Fifty Forward Friends with arts & crafts activities that are planned and led by staff.

No artistic talent is needed, just patience and an appreciation for freedom of expression.  Volunteers will assist one-on-one or in small groups as Friends complete simple projects that bring them joy. Volunteers should be able to complete simple "craft" tasks that include scissoring, tying simple knots, and other fine motor skills. Most importantly, volunteers should be comfortable conversing with older adults and encouraging their creativity.

Additional tasks may include:  

Assisting with room set-up or reset  Small clean-ups as necessary  Engaging participants in conversation  

Volunteer shifts are available on Thursdays from 1 to 2:30pm. Sign up for specific shifts here or express interest by responding to this opportunity and we will follow up with you.

Our Arts & Crafts volunteer opportunity occurs indoors in an ADA-compliant building with ample seating available + restrooms and filtered water.

FiftyForward Friends Adult Day Services is a licensed program where adults 50 and older - who may have cognitive, memory, or physical needs - can continue to thrive and enjoy an active life. Our nurturing and supportive day program features a variety of engaging, fun activities that encourage daily learning, social interaction and connection, and an enhanced quality of life.  

Volunteers help provide engagement and a sense of community for FiftyForward Friends clients. By bringing their own passions and interests to share in the Friends space, volunteers help clients to reconnect with their sense of self.

SRN drivers use their own vehicles and select rides based on their availability, location, and interest using an online scheduling tool. Volunteer drivers must complete an orientation and a background and motor vehicle record check before driving responsibilities begin. Records are checked on a recurring basis.

Residents at Trevecca Towers are 62 years and up, some are younger if they have a disability. Many of the residents are quite isolated and would greatly benefit from a connection with a community volunteer. 

Commitment: Spend time regularly with your assigned residents at least once a month. Visits can vary in length based on mutual comfort. Once you have been matched, visits can be coordinated directly between resident and volunteer. 

You can spend time talking, playing games, reading, doing crafts or crossword puzzles depending on mutual interest. Many residents are also interested in help navigating their cell phone. So, if you are well versed and able to help spent some time explaining how to do things, that would be appreciated. Some clients need help with light household tasks.

Next steps: Please express interest in the opportunity and we will reach out to you with more details, to match you with a resident and to schedule an initial visit. After the initial visit you will be able to schedule your visits directly with the residents independently. If you'd like to visit more than one resident, we can arrange for that as well.
