Students volunteering in person with Special Collections will gain hands-on experience working with rare books, archival materials, photographs, manuscripts, and other unique historical resources. Volunteers may assist with organizing and rehousing materials, scanning and digitizing collections, creating metadata, preparing materials for researchers, supporting exhibits and displays, and maintaining collection spaces. This opportunity provides students with an introduction to archival and library practices while allowing them to explore Fisk University’s rich history and collections. Volunteers will develop practical skills in preservation, research support, and collection management within a professional special collections environment.
