The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture will host a two-day program to help Nashville area residents identify and preserve items of historical and cultural significance tucked away in their homes' attics, closets, and basements. Presented in collaboration with Fisk University John Hope and Aurelia E. Franklin Library, the event will feature DIY presentations, hands-on activities, exhibitors, and Fisk University Gallery tours.
Goal(s) of the role:
Volunteers will support the Smithsonian staff with setting up and breaking down for the Hometown Treasures event. Event setup and breakdown may include setting up chairs and tables, placing signs, and organizing materials.
Duties
- Ability to be on their feet for periods of time
- setup and breakdown before and after event
- Communicate with attendees and staff in a respectful and helpful manner
