Game Day Operations 

This engaging program captivates audiences with music composed and arranged for the unique reverb of the Parthenon Naos , performed in front of the spectacular 42-foot statue of Athena.

ABOUT THIS PERFORMANCE:

A distinct Nashville treasure, Lockeland Strings returns to ECHO by popular demand. This global music collective is a community arts organization that showcases local artists accompanied by string quartet. They have performed internationally and collaborated with the likes of Kacey Musgraves, Lucie Silvas, and more. The evening will also showcase singer-songwriters backed by the Lockeland Strings ensemble. These special guests will be announced at a later date.

Volunteers will help with event set-up and tear-down, checking tickets in the lobby, ushering, and distributing information and surveys about future events, membership and the Centennial Park Conservancy.

Set-up begins at 4:30PM SHARP

Concert is at 7:30 PM (doors open by 7 PM) 

Tear-down starts at the conclusion of the concerts and usually winds up no later than 10:30pm

You may come for half shifts if necessary (4:30 till show starts and showtime through teardown) but we would prefer volunteers who can be dedicated to the whole evening, setup, show and teardown. Please let us know in advance if you can't stay for the whole event.

Project Description:

As a TN SHIP/SMP (Tennessee State Health Insurance Assistance Program/Senior Medicare Patrol) Volunteer Medicare Counselor you will be assisting individuals who have questions regarding the Medicare program through one-on-one counseling over the phone, in-person, or via email. You will receive extensive training to assist Medicare beneficiaries and will be trained to provide free, non-biased and personalized counseling and referral services to a wide range of health insurance issues.

Project Purpose:

TN SHIP’s goal is to provide free, non-biased, personalized counseling and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries and their families who need the help in navigating their way through the Medicare program. SHIP provides understandable and objective information to Medicare beneficiaries on a wide range of health insurance issues. Volunteers are essential in providing these services.

A fundraiser for the American Cancer Society's annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative that aims to increase research and awareness for Breast Cancer survivors. The Fisk University Rotaract club has started a challenge to raise funds for this initiative on campus as a part of our events throughout the month the raise awareness for Breast Cancer.

Some volunteer roles require knowledge about basketball (but not necessarily wheelchair basketball), and some will not. You will need to speak to ABLE Youth's Executive Director, Amy Saffell, to be put in a role that matches your experience level.

ABLE Youth is a Middle Tennessee based 501©3 that helps children with physical disabilities learn to be happy, healthy, and independent from their wheelchairs. The Music City Thunder wheelchair basketball teams are just one of its many programs and activities held throughout the year.

Game Day Operations 

On Wednesday nights, our one-on-one buddies provide supports that allow our friends to be engaged either in their age-appropriate ministry and/or our Special Needs Ministry area. We offer support during the Wednesday night programming from 6:00pm - 7:30pm.

You will not need to assist anyone in the bathroom, but you may color or build with legos or read a book or even push a swing. We share the gospel in all of these ways so that they can learn about God in the way that best suits their learning style.

We have two roles for volunteers at our Murfreesboro In-Patient Unit. This is an hour from Belmont campus.

The first role is at the front desk. A shift there is 3-4 hours, once a week or once every-other-week. It involves sitting at the desk and welcoming guests, showing them how to sign in, and if they need additional assistance, walking them to the room they're there to visit. Students are able to bring a laptop or books to study during this time.

The other role is for anywhere between 1-4 hours, depending on volunteer availability. It involves pushing our hospitality cart from room to room, offering snacks and other comfort items to patients and their guests. Some guests only want a treat and others want the volunteer to spend time with them, talking about their lives.

There is also the additional opportunity for a musical volunteer to visit patients and play/sing for them.

We have ongoing needs for volunteers to support our patients and their loved ones. Patients at home often need someone to sit with them, so that their caregiver can leave the home to run errands or attend appointments. Patients who live alone benefit from companionship visits and even a volunteer who may help tidy their home or cook for them. Patients who have pets may wish for a volunteer to spend time with their animals (dog walking or playing with pets). Musicians can play/sing for patients. Volunteers who enjoy arts and crafts can guide patients in creating.

Patients in nursing homes often don't have anyone to visit them or their loved ones worry because they aren't able to visit as often as they'd like. Volunteers who visit patients in facilities talk with or read to patients, help their patients participate in facility activities like Bingo or meal times.

Most patients who want a volunteer only need a once a week visit. The visits are typically between 2-4 hours, depending on volunteer availability. Depending on a patient's condition, a volunteer may only visit once or they may have a long-term relationship.

Do you enjoy spending time with older adults? Help us conduct client satisfaction surveys either in person at nursing facilities near you or via phone surveys to ensure satisfactory service outcomes. 

What are the surveys for? Each year TennCare contracts with state Area Agencies on Aging and Disability to conduct National Core Indicators Surveys with consumers receiving TennCareare services.  The core indicators are standard measures used across states to access the outcomes of services provided to individuals and families. Indicators address key areas of concern including planning, rights, community inclusion, choice, health and care coordination, safety and relationships.  Each year TennCare looks at the results of these anonymous surveys to improve and enhance services to consumers.

Why should I help? Those conducting the surveys are offering consumers and their families a chance to express their opinions about services received, offer suggestions, and make recommendations to enhance their care and quality of life.

What would I be doing? The surveyor role requires individuals to reach out to consumers by phone or by traveling to nursing facilities to administer the surveys. We will coordinate with you to assign locations that are close to you.  The surveyor will read the questions to each individual and record the responses into a database. This requires the ability to use basic computer skills. Each survey should take from 45 minutes to one hour to complete.

Surveyor Training: TennCare requires that all surveyors complete training. The training is in two parts: a series of self-paced online modules (takes about 2 hours to complete), and a 2.5-hour live training with a GNRC staff member. The live webinar trainings will be scheduled as needed.

When can I volunteer? In person surveys can be conducted during regular visiting hours of the nursing homes. Phone surveys can be conducted during the day or in the early evening hours. You can make your own schedule and choose how many surveys you want to complete. The survey period runs from December 8 through June 30th. 

Where would I volunteer? Clients are located all over Middle Tennessee. Training takes place online and volunteers can work via phone from their own home or be assigned to nursing homes close to them.

FiftyForward Fresh Meals on Wheels delivers healthy meals to the doorsteps of older adults on specific routes in the Nashville community. We are looking for friendly, compassionate volunteers to deliver nutritious meals, create a social connection, and provide weekly check-ins with our clients. 
 
Routes are currently available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and include the following neighborhoods to choose from: 12 South, Donelson, Bellevue, Leah Rose Towers (Green Hills), and Trevecca Towers.

This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity that greatly impacts the health and well-being of older adults experiencing food insecurity. Volunteers also help by creating a community connection that combats loneliness and social isolation. 

Unlock your creative talents and help the participants at FiftyForward Friends Adult Day Services do the same! 

Help Fifty Forward Friends with arts & crafts activities that are planned and led by staff.

No artistic talent is needed, just patience and an appreciation for freedom of expression.  Volunteers will assist one-on-one or in small groups as Friends complete simple projects that bring them joy. Volunteers should be able to complete simple "craft" tasks that include scissoring, tying simple knots, and other fine motor skills. Most importantly, volunteers should be comfortable conversing with older adults and encouraging their creativity.

Join us each week investing in the lives of Hispanic kids who need help with their homework due to language barriers and education gaps after uprooting their lives from their home countries to Nashville. Tutoring with K-5 is from 3-4:15pm, and 6-12 from 4:15 to 5:15pm. We are located at Rolling Hills apartments in the upstairs section of the leasing center!

Join us each Tuesday and Thursday from 3:40-5:00pm as we partner with the Hispanic Family Foundation to provide after school tutoring to refugee and immigrant children in East Nashville (no prior tutoring experience required)! For those that don't have homework, they need help with grammar and practicing conversational English!

Every Friday at 10:30 AM, we will be doing an hour long nursery rhymes and phonics class with the younger children living in our Nashville community. Purpose: NICE’s Refugee Benefits program supports recently arrived refugees to effectively use and maintain benefits that they need to support their families. Specifically, we focus on Department of Human Services benefits like SNAP (also known as Food Stamps) and TANF (also known as Families 

First). As well as, public health benefits such as TennCare and WIC.

We are in need of volunteers on Thursdays in one of our ELL classes at The Branch (6:15-8:15) or at The Southeast Branch of Nashville Public Library (6:00pm-7:45pm). This need would ideally be served by someone who can make a weekly commitment. Meet and greet adults who are taking English classes at The Branch. Direct them to their classes and serve as conversation partners for workbook and conversation activities and assist teacher with reading, writing, and in-class activities. 

Looking for students who would like the opportunity to learn how to scan and digitize archival materials from Special Collections. 

Returning Hearts Celebration reunites children and their incarcerated fathers on the prison grounds for a day of food, fun, and faith. Volunteers are needed to run games, serve food, and most importantly, chaperoning dads and their children on the prison yard throughout the day.

Every day, people are forced from their home due to fires, storms or other disasters. You will work as part of an assigned team to provide immediate support and assistance to individuals and families who have been impacted by a home fire or other local disaster.

Training is free, but the hope you bring is priceless.

The American Red Cross is looking for friendly, customer focused individuals to volunteer at blood drives. The primary role of a Blood Donor Ambassador volunteer is to engage with donors by greeting, registering, answering questions, providing information, and supporting them through the recovery process at the refreshment table.

Volunteers must volunteer at one blood drive per month. Blood drive can be anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. Length of volunteer service is 3 months.

Blood Donor Ambassador Volunteers Needed.

The American Red Cross is looking for friendly, customer focused individuals to volunteer at blood drives. The primary role of a Blood Donor Ambassador volunteer is to engage with donors by greeting, registering, answering questions, providing information, and supporting them through the recovery process at the refreshment table.

Volunteers must volunteer at one blood drive per month. Blood drive can be anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. Length of volunteer service is 3 months.

Alex Green Elementary is seeking volunteers to serve as Lunch Buddies throughout the school year. Volunteers can visit weekly, or as often as their schedule allows, to share a meal and meaningful time with a student.

Bring your own lunch, an approved snack or treat, a favorite book, or a fun activity to enjoy together. Lunch Buddies meet on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Volunteering at ThriftSmart is a hands-on way to make a real impact in our community. Since we are open seven days a week, our great volunteer opportunities can fit most schedules. We welcome both individual volunteers and groups of up to 15 people.

Without volunteers we couldn’t do all the things we’ve been doing in our community. We could not keep expanding in ways we dream of to become even more involved with the residents of Nashville and the surrounding areas without volunteer help.  We get to meet and help new people every day who visit our store.

Weekly Reading Partners (Grades K–2)

We are seeking 20–30 volunteers to provide 20-minute reading support sessions during our Hive Thrive times.

Our High School counselors and Front Office organize student packets every week. We need help from volunteers to sort and stuff these folders.

Occasionally, we may need support with other similar, light tasks.

This support is needed each week on Tuesday. We'll accept a one-time sign up or weekly commitment.

Dress: Please dress comfortable and appropriately for a school setting. Closed-toed shoes are suggested.

Parking: STEM Prep High School is located at 1252 Foster Ave. You can park in the front lot. You'll see a large blue mural.

ABOUT THE SHIFT: Every Wednesday and Thursday morning we have volunteers help us with restocking shelves and preparing the store for customer shopping. You should be able to lift over fifty pounds, as this shift involves physical labor.

ROLES: We are dependent on an excited and passionate volunteer base to help our customers shop. At the start of the shift, you will have an orientation and brief training; to ensure that we can process as many customers as possible, please be on time. During this shift you may also be greeting customers at check-in, helping people with questions while they shop, cleaning and tidying, stocking shelves and produce, unloading pallets, or other miscellaneous tasks. You will be able to take a break during your shift, so you are welcome to bring a snack and drink for break time.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of Cul2vate! Cul2vate can be a wonderful vessel to share your God-given gifts, talents, and skills. There are many different volunteer opportunities, from working on the farm to belonging to a prayer group to helping with data entry.

Volunteering with Cul2vate does not require a green thumb!  Working alongside the Cul2vators and staff sharing your personal experiences can provide growth for all. As our volunteer team says, “We receive so many more blessings than we give!” We work to provide a volunteer orientation session for individual volunteers each month of the growing season.

Transportation is a challenge for many seniors in Nashville and providing a ride is a meaningful way to help our older neighbors get where they need to go. Senior Ride Nashville keeps older adults connected to their community by providing affordable and assisted transportation for our riders. We are looking for caring, reliable volunteer drivers to provide transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, beauty/barber shops, community centers and more!  Your time can make a big difference in the lives of older adults in Nashville.

SRN drivers use their own vehicles and select rides based on their availability, location, and interest using an online scheduling tool. Volunteer drivers must complete an orientation and a background and motor vehicle record check before driving responsibilities begin. Records are checked on a recurring basis.

The Moses McKissack Race to Greatness event is an exciting opportunity to support our community and celebrate the achievements of our students. We are seeking volunteers to help with the Parade Line, which involves cheering on the students as they walk down to the event space.

We need volunteers who will participate with us to provide respite care for families with special needs.  We meet one Saturday of every month, from October-May.  We stay as a large group the entire night- you will never be alone with our participants.  We plan the evening from start to finish.  You will be partnered 1:1 with a buddy and we ask that engage with them for the duration of the night.  Nights can include games, crafts, stories, sensory play, outdoor play, meals, movie time, etc...  You will be provided all the resources that you need to have a night of fun with your buddy.

Come and make a dogs day! Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control (MACC) has nearly 100 fantastic dogs available for adoption and they need your help! Our dogs need your help getting them out throughout the day for fun romps in one of our play yards, extended walks, or something even just a friendly lap to cuddle on! The Positive Path Tour is a mentorship initiative designed to support justice-involved youth by providing guidance, encouragement, and real-life examples of growth and resilience. Mentors commit to donating at least two hours per week to build consistent, supportive relationships with youth, helping them explore positive alternatives and develop life skills. Through one-on-one sessions, group discussions, and structured activities, mentors serve as role models of integrity and accountability, encouraging youth to pursue education, employment, and personal development. No prior experience is required—just a commitment to show up, listen, and walk alongside young people on their journey toward a better future.

Saddle Up!’s mission is to provide children and youth with disabilities the opportunity to grow and develop through therapeutic, educational and recreational activities with horses. We bring that mission to life by providing a year-round program on our 34-acre farm near Franklin, TN.

Saddle Up! could not operate without the dedicated help of an army of volunteers from our community. There are numerous positions that require a wide variety of talents.  All volunteers MUST attend New Volunteer Training before participating in any of the below listed opportunities.

This volunteer interacts with and helps our special riders. Assigned to a particular rider in a riding lesson, this volunteer helps the rider get the horse ready, helps them get on the horse, and walks next to the rider throughout the mounted portion of the lesson providing support as needed. This is the person most involved with helping our special needs riders. Sidewalkers must be at least 16 years-old and able to walk briskly beside a horse for an average of 30 minutes. There are opportunities to sidewalk on a weekly basis or sub in as a sidewalker on any days when you are available.

This volunteer is in charge of a horse in a riding lesson. They pre-groom the horse before the lesson, help with tacking, and lead the horse throughout the lesson. Most riders who have leaders are unable to fully control their horse. After the lesson, they are responsible for putting the horse back where it needs to go and returning all equipment to the tack room. Leaders are volunteers over the age of 16 and must be able to walk at a fast pace for 30 minutes and jog intermittently during the lesson. They should be very comfortable with horses and react calmly if an incident arises.

Book'em is thrilled to once again offer our Reading is Fundamental (RIF) program to the Metro-Nashville/Davidson County area for the 2025/2026 school year. We hope to serve 250+ classrooms in 17 Title I schools and need enthusiastic and committed volunteers like you!

Amqui K-8 is seeking volunteers to support their quarterly Transformation Tuesday sessions! This is an opportunity for partners to provide real-world experiences and fun activities in the classroom while teachers receive professional development training to enhance their classroom skills.

No matter your background, there’s a meaningful way for you to contribute and help us shine a light on Alzheimer’s. This volunteer opportunity stretches across the entire state of Tennessee, with both virtual and in-person ways to get involved-so no matter where you are, you can make a difference.

A.Z. Kelley Elementary is looking for female and male volunteers to serve as Lunch Buddies for 3rd-5th grade students. Lunch Buddies is designed to help reach students who would benefit from having an additional positive role model. The Lunch Buddy Program helps create healthy attitudes and behavior in youth, as well as provide skills, resources, and positive experiences that will aid them in becoming successful, productive citizens. We ask that volunteers commit to weekly or bi-weekly lunch visits with students. All volunteers are required to complete a Background Check through PENCIL before pairing with a student. If interested, notify us of the lunch time that you'd prefer to volunteer for this. The Lunch Buddies Program will run from September 2025 to March 2026.
