Alex Green Elementary is seeking volunteers to serve as Lunch Buddies throughout the school year. Volunteers can visit weekly, or as often as their schedule allows, to share a meal and meaningful time with a student.

Bring your own lunch, an approved snack or treat, a favorite book, or a fun activity to enjoy together. Lunch Buddies meet on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Most of our students do not have access to one-on-one or small-group academic support at home.

A student who works with a consistent tutor at least once a week is more likely to improve their test scores and classroom participation.

The presence of caring adult volunteers reinforces our mission to make each child feel seen, heard, and academically capable.

Time: 4 days/week, between 3:45 PM – 5:25 PM (Monday–Thursday)

Volunteering at ThriftSmart is a hands-on way to make a real impact in our community. Since we are open seven days a week, our great volunteer opportunities can fit most schedules. We welcome both individual volunteers and groups of up to 15 people.

Without volunteers we couldn’t do all the things we’ve been doing in our community. We could not keep expanding in ways we dream of to become even more involved with the residents of Nashville and the surrounding areas without volunteer help.  We get to meet and help new people every day who visit our store.

Weekly Reading Partners (Grades K–2)

We are seeking 20–30 volunteers to provide 20-minute reading support sessions during our Hive Thrive times.

Our High School counselors and Front Office organize student packets every week. We need help from volunteers to sort and stuff these folders.

Occasionally, we may need support with other similar, light tasks.

This support is needed each week on Tuesday. We'll accept a one-time sign up or weekly commitment.

Dress: Please dress comfortable and appropriately for a school setting. Closed-toed shoes are suggested.

Parking: STEM Prep High School is located at 1252 Foster Ave. You can park in the front lot. You'll see a large blue mural.

As a Hospice Music Volunteer, you will collaborate with our full-service medical and psycho-social care team to help patients and their family members. You will have the opportunity to offer music to patients in their home, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility while adhering to current health and safety guidelines. Volunteer activities with patients include: Listening to a patient's stories, playing your musical instrument of choice, singing, discussing music, writing a song together, bringing a device/speaker to play music on, but most of all, supporting someone dealing with a terminal illness.

ABOUT THE SHIFT: Every Wednesday and Thursday morning we have volunteers help us with restocking shelves and preparing the store for customer shopping. Volunteers will be stocking shelves, deep cleaning the produce sections, restocking the produce, stacking pallets, organizing the storage room, or other miscellaneous tasks. You should be able to lift over fifty pounds, as this shift involves physical labor.

ROLES: We are dependent on an excited and passionate volunteer base to help our customers shop. At the start of the shift, you will have an orientation and brief training; to ensure that we can process as many customers as possible, please be on time. During this shift you may also be greeting customers at check-in, helping people with questions while they shop, cleaning and tidying, stocking shelves and produce, unloading pallets, or other miscellaneous tasks. GARDEN HELPERS: The Store has partnered with the Edgehill Community Gardens and has a dedicated garden plot for us to grow produce. We use this to stock our fresh produce section. We are looking for volunteers who can help with general garden bed maintenance, which could include weeding, tilling, planting, watering, harvesting and other miscellaneous garden tasks.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of Cul2vate! Cul2vate can be a wonderful vessel to share your God-given gifts, talents, and skills. There are many different volunteer opportunities, from working on the farm to belonging to a prayer group to helping with data entry.

Volunteering with Cul2vate does not require a green thumb!  Working alongside the Cul2vators and staff sharing your personal experiences can provide growth for all. Transportation is a challenge for many seniors in Nashville and providing a ride is a meaningful way to help our older neighbors get where they need to go. Senior Ride Nashville keeps older adults connected to their community by providing affordable and assisted transportation for our riders. We are looking for caring, reliable volunteer drivers to provide transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, beauty/barber shops, community centers and more!  Your time can make a big difference in the lives of older adults in Nashville.

SRN drivers use their own vehicles and select rides based on their availability, location, and interest using an online scheduling tool. Volunteer drivers must complete an orientation and a background and motor vehicle record check before driving responsibilities begin. Records are checked on a recurring basis.

The Moses McKissack Race to Greatness event is an exciting opportunity to support our community and celebrate the achievements of our students. We are seeking volunteers to help with the Parade Line, which involves cheering on the students as they walk down to the event space.

We need volunteers who will participate with us to provide respite care for families with special needs.  We meet one Saturday of every month, from October-May.  We stay as a large group the entire night- you will never be alone with our participants.  We plan the evening from start to finish.  You will be partnered 1:1 with a buddy and we ask that engage with them for the duration of the night.  Nights can include games, crafts, stories, sensory play, outdoor play, meals, movie time, etc...  You will be provided all the resources that you need to have a night of fun with your buddy.

Come and make a dogs day! Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control (MACC) has nearly 100 fantastic dogs available for adoption and they need your help! Our dogs need your help getting them out throughout the day for fun romps in one of our play yards, extended walks, or something even just a friendly lap to cuddle on! The Positive Path Tour is a mentorship initiative designed to support justice-involved youth by providing guidance, encouragement, and real-life examples of growth and resilience. Mentors commit to donating at least two hours per week to build consistent, supportive relationships with youth, helping them explore positive alternatives and develop life skills. Through one-on-one sessions, group discussions, and structured activities, mentors serve as role models of integrity and accountability, encouraging youth to pursue education, employment, and personal development. No prior experience is required—just a commitment to show up, listen, and walk alongside young people on their journey toward a better future.

Saddle Up!’s mission is to provide children and youth with disabilities the opportunity to grow and develop through therapeutic, educational and recreational activities with horses. We bring that mission to life by providing a year-round program on our 34-acre farm near Franklin, TN.

Saddle Up! could not operate without the dedicated help of an army of volunteers from our community. There are numerous positions that require a wide variety of talents.  All volunteers MUST attend New Volunteer Training before participating in any of the below listed opportunities.

This volunteer interacts with and helps our special riders. Assigned to a particular rider in a riding lesson, this volunteer helps the rider get the horse ready, helps them get on the horse, and walks next to the rider throughout the mounted portion of the lesson providing support as needed. This is the person most involved with helping our special needs riders. Sidewalkers must be at least 16 years-old and able to walk briskly beside a horse for an average of 30 minutes. There are opportunities to sidewalk on a weekly basis or sub in as a sidewalker on any days when you are available.

This volunteer is in charge of a horse in a riding lesson. They pre-groom the horse before the lesson, help with tacking, and lead the horse throughout the lesson. Most riders who have leaders are unable to fully control their horse. After the lesson, they are responsible for putting the horse back where it needs to go and returning all equipment to the tack room. Leaders are volunteers over the age of 16 and must be able to walk at a fast pace for 30 minutes and jog intermittently during the lesson. They should be very comfortable with horses and react calmly if an incident arises.

Book'em is thrilled to once again offer our Reading is Fundamental (RIF) program to the Metro-Nashville/Davidson County area for the 2025/2026 school year. We hope to serve 250+ classrooms in 17 Title I schools and need enthusiastic and committed volunteers like you!

A.Z. Kelley Elementary is looking for female and male volunteers to serve as Lunch Buddies for 3rd-5th grade students. Lunch Buddies is designed to help reach students who would benefit from having an additional positive role model. The Lunch Buddy Program helps create healthy attitudes and behavior in youth, as well as provide skills, resources, and positive experiences that will aid them in becoming successful, productive citizens. We ask that volunteers commit to weekly or bi-weekly lunch visits with students. All volunteers are required to complete a Background Check through PENCIL before pairing with a student. If interested, notify us of the lunch time that you'd prefer to volunteer for this. The Lunch Buddies Program will run from September 2025 to March 2026.

Purpose:  The Health Intern will primarily support intensive case management, health education, and mental health care coordination services for vulnerable refugee and immigrant populations; and will also help carry out projects related to refugee health and wellness.

Duties:  

Demonstrate knowledge of the refugee resettlement process; local and national stakeholders in refugee health services; and the barriers that refugees may experience while interacting with government entities, healthcare organizations, and social work professionals. 

Achieve fluency in intensive case management procedures such as client intake, documentation of referrals, streamlining referral processes, and case closure 

Analyse intake forms, progress forms, and exit forms across all NICE programs for opportunities for mental health referrals and tracking holistic wellbeing outcomes 

Create exit interviews with mental health related information 

Support the compilation of diaspora community connections / networking into a usable resource for NICE staff 

Provide needs assessments of diaspora communities capacity for mental health related information/referrals 

Implement Nashville-Neighbours style program of health-education for higher need clients with chronic disease (asthma, diabetes, etc) 

Streamline administrative needs for health education (health care navigation and maternal health) 

Create and implement organizational/administrative tools for health education service provisions (organizing partner lists, event calendar organization, etc) 

Receive thorough feedback from program managers

The Gift of Life Campus Ambassador Program (CAP) enlists students like you for an internship to run cheek swab drives on your campus. By reaching out to your friends, clubs and campus organizations you’re involved with, you have the potential to invite many new donors to join the registry – any one of whom could save a life. At Ella's House, we exist to support pregnant and parenting students in Middle Tennessee through housing, community, and mental health and wellness initiatives to provide holistic help--through semesters and trimesters.

An international collaborative event. 

GNRC is partnering with Trevecca Towers to pair Friendly Visitors with Residents at the Senior Living Highrise. Residents at Trevecca Towers are 62 years and up, some are younger if they have a disability. Many of the residents are quite isolated and would greatly benefit from a connection with a community volunteer. 

Commitment: Spend time regularly with your assigned residents at least once a month. Visits can vary in length based on mutual comfort. Once you have been matched, visits can be coordinated directly between resident and volunteer. 

You can spend time talking, playing games, reading, doing crafts or crossword puzzles depending on mutual interest. Many residents are also interested in help navigating their cell phone. So, if you are well versed and able to help spent some time explaining how to do things, that would be appreciated. Some clients need help with light household tasks.

Next steps: Please express interest in the opportunity and we will reach out to you with more details, to match you with a resident and to schedule an initial visit. After the initial visit you will be able to schedule your visits directly with the residents independently. If you'd like to visit more than one resident, we can arrange for that as well.

Hours for the service events and development events for band participants including Music Fest. 

Make a dogs weekend!  Take a dog on a bow-wow breakout and let them spend time chilling at home, walking on the greenway, or whatever other fun event you can think of!  A bow-wow breakout helps our dogs get a break from the kennel and introduces them to new people, environments, and new experiences...and it helps them get adopted! 

This is the volunteering option for you if you need a small amount of hours! 

Available 12-4pm 7 days a week.  All dogs must return to the shelter by 4pm. 

If you do keep the dog at your residence overnight the maximum number of service hours you can receive will be 8 hours per day.    

No dogs are allowed overnights at any campus housing.  If you live off-campus you MUST provide MACC staff written permission from your landlord that dogs are ok on the premises overnight.

The Nature Discovery Program is a partnership between Friends of Warner Parks, the Warner Park Nature Center, and Metro Parks Community Centers to reach youth who lack direct access to, and are often underrepresented in, traditional environmental education and outdoor recreation programs. The Nature Discovery Program is activated in a number of ways including:

Nature Detectives Club: an after-school program for youth at Metro Nashville Community Centers. This program provides science-based teachings and empowers kids to explore nature. This program takes place at more than 20 Community Centers throughout Davidson County. 

P.E.N. Pals (People Exploring Nature) Summer Camp: brings youth from Metro Parks Community Centers to the Warner Parks for a full day of nature exploration and outdoor adventure! Youth follow their curiosity as they explore the meadow, pond, and garden ecosystems, hike through the forest, observe wildlife, kayak, learn outdoor skills, search for crawdads in the Little Harpeth River, and create lasting memories in nature. 

P.E.N. Pals (People Exploring Nature) Fall Campfire & Night Hikes: Community Center youth experience the Warner Parks during the fall season. Earlier sunsets and cooler temperatures mean it's time to roast hot dogs, make s'mores, and enjoy time around the bonfire. Youth take a crepuscular hike through the meadows and forests of the Warner Parks and view the night sky while learning about nocturnal creatures. 

*We are looking for college-aged volunteers to participate in any of these branches of the Nature Discovery program, as the youth often find it easier to connect with this age group. This opportunity is wonderful for those who are interested in education, biology, sustainability, or environmental studies.*

Pawster is looking for volunteers to help transport pets and supplies! Pet Chauffeurs are volunteer drivers who bring pets to their foster homes, to veterinary appointments, and anywhere else a pet may need! They also help bring supplies to fosters. You make Pawster's mission possible.

All you need is a valid driver's license, a vehicle, and a love of pets. Once you sign up and complete orientation, you'll be on the Pet Chauffeur list. Are you interested in helping Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC) and engaging in your community in an active and hands-on environment?  Are you looking for a short-term volunteer opportunity?  Do you enjoy talking directly to members of your community?  Join the MACC Street Team!  We are looking for a diverse group of team members who can walk, drive, bike, roller skate, hop, etc…to various locations throughout Davidson County to hang flyers and talk with local community members about upcoming shelter events, found animals, rabies/microchip clinics, long-stay shelter dogs, and more!  Help us advocate for MACC shelter animals and help manage community business bulletin boards, local business contacts, and organizations where flyers can be placed.  This is a great way to get a few volunteer hours in and help spread the mission of MACC throughout Davidson County.  Please consider joining us if you like the following; scavenger hunts, walking, driving, or biking to new establishments, talking with local organizations and business owners, love organization, and like to collaborate with a team of dedicated volunteers!  Interested volunteers must complete the MACC Volunteer Application and complete a virtual volunteer orientation.  Volunteers will receive 10 minutes of service credit for each flyer they put up.

We help clients connect to the right person in the right organization fort heir immediate
need, whether it’s housing, immigration, healthcare, job help, or more. We are trusted
connectors to resources, people and, programs. Ideally, but NOT required a resource navigator speaks- Spanish or Arabic to best communicate with many of our neighbors.

How It Works
As a volunteer resource navigator, you will be part of the Comprehensive Care program
at The Branch. You will:
Schedule volunteer shifts with Ashley Smith. The commitment is a minimum of 8
hours a month (that’s either two full volunteer shifts from 10-2 or four, half-time
shifts from either10-Noon or Noon-2)for at least 3 months.
Attend a training during your first navigator session. You’ll learn about the resources
available to clients, the tools we use to help our clients, and the process to follow
when a neighbor comes to the pantry and has needs beyond food.
You will be at the front desk during food pantry hours. You will talk to clients as they
come into The Branch to fill out paperwork; you’ll go out to their cars to see if they
need help navigating to other resources.
Document all referrals you’ve provided clients (this will be part of the training) on the
same day of your volunteer shift.
At the end of your 3-month commitment, meet with Ashley to discuss your
experience and if you would like to continue for another 3 months, or to take a break
for the next 3 months and then come back for another 3 months.

Students participated in a voting simulation at Hermitage Elm. They created voting booths, discussed the importance of civic duty, created marketing material and more. 

The Tiger Pantry is designed to aid TSU students who are facing temporary hardships. This service is provided for students who are currently not on the meal plan.

WFSK serves the needs of both Fisk University and the Nashville community at-large. JAZZY 88 is on the front line at Fisk, therefore we receive numerous calls and listener contacts during the course of a day.  We're seeking the following type of person: Energetic, to learn, patient and hardworking.  Able to multi-task (i.e. in where ever needed. 

The GiGi's Playhouse 1:1 Literacy Tutoring Programs uses a methodology with documented success based on research by professionals in the field. The ability to read opens doors for individuals with Down syndrome in the workplace, schools and the community.  Developing reading skills also leads to improvements in speech and language development, auditory perceptual skills and working memory function.  Our goal is to foster a love for reading and provide an opportunity to develop and master skills, all while building a positive relationship with our volunteer tutors.  

We have various free therapeutic-based programs based on the different ages of our participants. 

Some Example of Programs That We Provide:

Fantastic Friends: (18+) The Fantastic Friends Adult Program meets weekly to provide opportunities for socialization and community involvement, while creating a fun and memorable experience for its participants. Participants work on vocational, communication, and social skills to boost confidence and encourage independence. 

Yoga: Teens and Adults (13+) and Yoga: Kids (8-12): This program promotes healthy habits for a lifetime of wellness through a proactive and routine that integrates physical, mental, and emotional development. This program helps participants develop personal awareness and learn specific strategies to maintain focus and manage emotions and impulses. 

LMNOP: Language, Music, N' Our Peeps (0-3): This program is an interactive and engaging program for young children with Down syndrome and their families. It guides parents and children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication using music and language-based activities. 

Teentastic (13-18): Focuses on building social skills with friends without Down syndrome by participating in team-based activities in a casual and fun setting. Skill development includes understanding compromise, turn-taking and problem-solving abilities.

GiGi's Kitchen (all age groups): Our GiGi’s Kitchen programs are designed to emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle and early exposure to practical cooking skills. Under the guidance of program leaders, participants will engage in activities designed to promote healthy eating habits, kitchen safety awareness, food preparation skills, self-confidence, and social skills by applying learned skills as they prepare and enjoy a shared meal/snack!

We need weed-pullers, planters, and those willing to create a beautiful, peaceful place for our residents to enjoy the outdoors. HAPI's biggest event of the year is the Phoenix Art Gala, and will be 2/15/24.  In the time leading up to this event, volunteer tasks will be organized to help prepare for the event.  Tasks may include:

-Picking up Gala supplies, artwork, etc

-Documenting/logging art received for the Gala

Do you love tutoring students and have a passion for math, science, and language? If so, we are looking for tutors for our afterschool program.

The schools that we are located at are John F. Kennedy, Margaret Allen, Antioch, Thurgood Marshall, and Apollo Middle Schools.

Our programs operate Monday - Friday from 4:00-6:00pm. We look forward to working with you.

We are seeking committed, available volunteers to assist with:

- administrative tasks (as needed)

- assist with/serve in our fundraising and special events (Halloween Bowl, Empowerment Luncheon, Cool Kids Read, and others)

- assist in the preparation of our mailed fundraising campaigns

- offer a talent or skill to our afterschool program

- fill other needs for our agency as they come up.

We will work around your availability and skills to help you find the best volunteer opportunity.

When you assist with a reuse center shift you will be in the center of it all, guided by our awesome Reuse Specialists in a variety of processing tasks. From rolling and detangling materials, to creating fun paper scrap packs, stocking our shelves, or processing beads and other donations, you'll be helping us give new life to these materials by keeping them out of the landfill! FiftyForward has opportunities for volunteers to assist with a wide variety of programming for older adults enrolled in our FiftyForward Friends Adult Day Services Program.  Volunteers are needed to assist staff with bingo, arts and crafts, and karaoke. 

Volunteers help provide engagement and a sense of community for FiftyForward Friends clients. By bringing their own passions and interests to share in the Friends space, volunteers help clients to reconnect with their sense of self. 

Café is offered Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 8am - 10am. Our café program is designed to be a space for our participants to relax, enjoy a cup (or three!) of coffee, and some light breakfast items (think of what you may find at your favorite coffee shop!). We are always looking for volunteers that are eager to serve others, hear stories from those in the chaos, and to help us provide a place of rest for those using our programming.

to you! We need you to help reach and plan events on
campus, in businesses, and other spaces that young adults
gather. Representation matters!!

A time commitment would be 1-5 hours a month based on your capacity
to be invloved. The majority of the meetings are held VIRTUALLY.

Currently, along with our other posted needs, we are seeking volunteers who would like to lead or co-lead exercise and fitness groups. Many groups will be seated, but there is some interest in gentle/careful standing movements. Chair dancing, gentle stretching, dance fitness, tai chi, and yoga are all activities that spark our residents' interest. We also have exercise bands, small weights, and a small gym that can be utilized! We are open to any and all new group ideas, too!

Currently, along with our other posted needs, we are seeking volunteers who would like to lead or present a specialty talk for our residents regarding subject matter of your choice. Previous specialty talks include nutrition presentations (with a food tasting), beekeeping, gardening, music history, literature, travel, photography, etc. We can provide a TV to project visuals or PowerPoints. Our residents have a wide array of interests and love to learn, so most specialties will be enjoyed!

Volunteers are needed Monday through Thursday from 2-7pm, and Fridays 2-6pm at the Boys and Girls Club's Fairview Club, 1814 Fairview Boulevard, Fairview, TN 37062.

Before beginning each fall, volunteers must undergo a background check prior to starting their service. Please print and fill out the Volunteer Contact form available that is attached below. Once completed, please scan and send your Volunteer Contact form to Tamara Peay at tpeay@bgcmt.org.

Please note that it can take 2 - 3 weeks, or longer, to complete the background check, so the sooner it is turned in, the sooner you can begin tutoring.
