Want to hit the road to make a difference? The Nashville Food Project is recruiting volunteers to deliver meals to our community partners across the city. Each week, TNFP distributes thousands of meals, and with your help, we hope to reach more plates than ever this year! To help us achieve this goal, we are recruiting volunteers for weekly or bi-weekly shifts to deliver meals across Nashville using our distribution vehicles.

When: We're looking for volunteers that can commit to delivering meals on a weekly basis. We have shifts available from 8:30am-11:30am Monday-Friday (no weekends!).

Requirements: Valid driver's license, comfortability driving a van, ability to commit to a set schedule. No CDL required!

We're on the lookout for passionate individuals to join our team and support the language-learning journey of adult immigrants in the Nashville area. Our Adult Education Program has been a cornerstone in helping newcomers integrate seamlessly into our community. As a volunteer teacher, you'll play a crucial role in this heartwarming process. But it's not just about teaching English; it's about being a cultural ambassador and a friendly face in the Nashville area. Your presence will make a real difference.

*No teaching certification is required to embark on this rewarding journey; however, we do recommend some teaching experience.

*Volunteers must be 18 or older.

*You'll have the opportunity to lead 1.5-hour lessons one evening per week for a 12-week term, with a curriculum and syllabus provided.

*Our fall term classes will meet online via Zoom

Mark your calendars; classes begin on August 19th, 2025, and will wrap up on November 20th, 2025.

Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Your commitment is only once a week.

At Ella's House, we exist to support pregnant and parenting students in Middle Tennessee through housing, community, and mental health and wellness initiatives to provide holistic help--through semesters and trimesters. 

We are looking for students with a heart and passion for helping others. The campus ambassador program is for current college students that are involved on their campus. Campus ambassadors' job is to help spread awareness, educate peers, and recruit new volunteers.

Requirements:

1. Meet with volunteer coordinator at the beginning of the semester to set goals. (Ex. “I want to serve every Wednesday afternoon” or “I want to help plan a mommy mixer”)

2. Actively serve at Ella’s House throughout the year; Minimum is 1x a month.

3. Assist EH staff at your campus’ service fair and the “finals coffee” table on campus.

4. Serve at the annual fundraiser, Night Circus, in early February.

5. Complete end of year survey and nominate 2 peers you think should be an ambassador next year.

An international collaborative event. 

GNRC is partnering with Trevecca Towers to pair Friendly Visitors with Residents at the Senior Living Highrise. Residents at Trevecca Towers are 62 years and up, some are younger if they have a disability. Many of the residents are quite isolated and would greatly benefit from a connection with a community volunteer. 

Commitment: Spend time regularly with your assigned residents at least once a month. Visits can vary in length based on mutual comfort. Once you have been matched, visits can be coordinated directly between resident and volunteer. 

You can spend time talking, playing games, reading, doing crafts or crossword puzzles depending on mutual interest. Many residents are also interested in help navigating their cell phone. So, if you are well versed and able to help spent some time explaining how to do things, that would be appreciated. Some clients need help with light household tasks.

Next steps: Please express interest in the opportunity and we will reach out to you with more details, to match you with a resident and to schedule an initial visit. After the initial visit you will be able to schedule your visits directly with the residents independently. If you'd like to visit more than one resident, we can arrange for that as well.

Make a dogs weekend!  Take a dog on a bow-wow breakout and let them spend time chilling at home, walking on the greenway, or whatever other fun event you can think of!  A bow-wow breakout helps our dogs get a break from the kennel and introduces them to new people, environments, and new experiences...and it helps them get adopted! 

This is the volunteering option for you if you need a small amount of hours! 

Available 12-4pm 7 days a week.  All dogs must return to the shelter by 4pm. 

If you do keep the dog at your residence overnight the maximum number of service hours you can receive will be 8 hours per day.    

No dogs are allowed overnights at any campus housing.  If you live off-campus you MUST provide MACC staff written permission from your landlord that dogs are ok on the premises overnight.

The Nature Discovery Program is a partnership between Friends of Warner Parks, the Warner Park Nature Center, and Metro Parks Community Centers to reach youth who lack direct access to, and are often underrepresented in, traditional environmental education and outdoor recreation programs. The Nature Discovery Program is activated in a number of ways including:

Nature Detectives Club: an after-school program for youth at Metro Nashville Community Centers. This program provides science-based teachings and empowers kids to explore nature. This program takes place at more than 20 Community Centers throughout Davidson County. 

P.E.N. Pals (People Exploring Nature) Summer Camp: brings youth from Metro Parks Community Centers to the Warner Parks for a full day of nature exploration and outdoor adventure! Youth follow their curiosity as they explore the meadow, pond, and garden ecosystems, hike through the forest, observe wildlife, kayak, learn outdoor skills, search for crawdads in the Little Harpeth River, and create lasting memories in nature. 

P.E.N. Pals (People Exploring Nature) Fall Campfire & Night Hikes: Community Center youth experience the Warner Parks during the fall season. Earlier sunsets and cooler temperatures mean it's time to roast hot dogs, make s'mores, and enjoy time around the bonfire. Youth take a crepuscular hike through the meadows and forests of the Warner Parks and view the night sky while learning about nocturnal creatures. 

*We are looking for college-aged volunteers to participate in any of these branches of the Nature Discovery program, as the youth often find it easier to connect with this age group. This opportunity is wonderful for those who are interested in education, biology, sustainability, or environmental studies.*

The Martha O'Bryan Center needs upbeat, positive volunteers to assist in the food pantry. On Mondays and Thursdays, volunteers will be able to help with unloading deliveries. Every day of the week, volunteers will be able to work alongside clients to 'shop' in our food pantry and pick out the items that will serve them the most. Volunteers will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and order of the premises, bringing heavier boxes out to client cars.

Our headquarter campus sits in the East Nashville public housing campus of Cayce Place, currently transforming into the mixed-income neighborhood Boscobel Heights.  This is where we operate most of our programs, supporting education goals for learners of all ages, empowering youth and adults in their careers, and providing stability and support services for individuals and families.

Pawster is looking for volunteers to help transport pets and supplies! Pet Chauffeurs are volunteer drivers who bring pets to their foster homes, to veterinary appointments, and anywhere else a pet may need! They also help bring supplies to fosters. You make Pawster's mission possible.

All you need is a valid driver's license, a vehicle, and a love of pets. Once you sign up and complete orientation, you'll be on the Pet Chauffeur list. When a pet or supplues needs to be transported, we'll send the request to pet chauffeurs. If you're available to help, great! If not, just wait on the next one!

Pawster is always looking for people to volunteer at events to spread awareness about the need for Crisis Foster Care for dogs and cats. But we need your help to staff Pawster's table at events! Are you interested in helping Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC) and engaging in your community in an active and hands-on environment?  Are you looking for a short-term volunteer opportunity?  Do you enjoy talking directly to members of your community?  Join the MACC Street Team!  We are looking for a diverse group of team members who can walk, drive, bike, roller skate, hop, etc…to various locations throughout Davidson County to hang flyers and talk with local community members about upcoming shelter events, found animals, rabies/microchip clinics, long-stay shelter dogs, and more!  Help us advocate for MACC shelter animals and help manage community business bulletin boards, local business contacts, and organizations where flyers can be placed.  This is a great way to get a few volunteer hours in and help spread the mission of MACC throughout Davidson County.  Please consider joining us if you like the following; scavenger hunts, walking, driving, or biking to new establishments, talking with local organizations and business owners, love organization, and like to collaborate with a team of dedicated volunteers!  Interested volunteers must complete the MACC Volunteer Application and complete a virtual volunteer orientation.  Volunteers will receive 10 minutes of service credit for each flyer they put up.

Do you have 1 hour that you are willing to give to a student each week? If so, we would love for you to consider becoming a LUNCH BUDDY! 

Lunch Buddies are volunteers who go into a school to meet with a student once a week during the student's lunch period. The volunteer and student have some time together to build a relationship and do various activities together, including playing games, coloring and reading books together. 

This is a program where volunteers get to help students see and reach their full potential, because at PTM, we know that close positive relationships help students THRIVE! 

All participating schools are in Northwest Nashville.

Lunch times range from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Volunteers will need their own reliable transportation to get to each visit. 

We help clients connect to the right person in the right organization fort heir immediate
need, whether it’s housing, immigration, healthcare, job help, or more. We are trusted
connectors to resources, people and, programs. Ideally, but NOT required a resource navigator speaks- Spanish or Arabic to best communicate with many of our neighbors.

How It Works
As a volunteer resource navigator, you will be part of the Comprehensive Care program
at The Branch. You will:
Schedule volunteer shifts with Ashley Smith. The commitment is a minimum of 8
hours a month (that’s either two full volunteer shifts from 10-2 or four, half-time
shifts from either10-Noon or Noon-2)for at least 3 months.
Attend a training during your first navigator session. You’ll learn about the resources
available to clients, the tools we use to help our clients, and the process to follow
when a neighbor comes to the pantry and has needs beyond food.
You will be at the front desk during food pantry hours. You will talk to clients as they
come into The Branch to fill out paperwork; you’ll go out to their cars to see if they
need help navigating to other resources.
Document all referrals you’ve provided clients (this will be part of the training) on the
same day of your volunteer shift.
At the end of your 3-month commitment, meet with Ashley to discuss your
experience and if you would like to continue for another 3 months, or to take a break
for the next 3 months and then come back for another 3 months.

The Tiger Pantry is designed to aid TSU students who are facing temporary hardships. This service is provided for students who are currently not on the meal plan.

WFSK serves the needs of both Fisk University and the Nashville community at-large. JAZZY 88 is on the front line at Fisk, therefore we receive numerous calls and listener contacts during the course of a day.  We're seeking the following type of person: Energetic, to learn, patient and hardworking.  Able to multi-task (i.e. in where ever needed.

Join us each Saturday from 11am-1pm for community day with immigrant and refugee families providing games, learning, and a positive experience in their environment for hope and healing.

The GiGi's Playhouse 1:1 Literacy Tutoring Programs uses a methodology with documented success based on research by professionals in the field. The ability to read opens doors for individuals with Down syndrome in the workplace, schools and the community.  Developing reading skills also leads to improvements in speech and language development, auditory perceptual skills and working memory function.  Our goal is to foster a love for reading and provide an opportunity to develop and master skills, all while building a positive relationship with our volunteer tutors.  

We have various free therapeutic-based programs based on the different ages of our participants. 

Some Example of Programs That We Provide:

Fantastic Friends: (18+) The Fantastic Friends Adult Program meets weekly to provide opportunities for socialization and community involvement, while creating a fun and memorable experience for its participants. Participants work on vocational, communication, and social skills to boost confidence and encourage independence. 

Yoga: Teens and Adults (13+) and Yoga: Kids (8-12): This program promotes healthy habits for a lifetime of wellness through a proactive and routine that integrates physical, mental, and emotional development. This program helps participants develop personal awareness and learn specific strategies to maintain focus and manage emotions and impulses. 

LMNOP: Language, Music, N' Our Peeps (0-3): This program is an interactive and engaging program for young children with Down syndrome and their families. It guides parents and children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication using music and language-based activities. 

Teentastic (13-18): Focuses on building social skills with friends without Down syndrome by participating in team-based activities in a casual and fun setting. Skill development includes understanding compromise, turn-taking and problem-solving abilities.

GiGi's Kitchen (all age groups): Our GiGi’s Kitchen programs are designed to emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle and early exposure to practical cooking skills. Under the guidance of program leaders, participants will engage in activities designed to promote healthy eating habits, kitchen safety awareness, food preparation skills, self-confidence, and social skills by applying learned skills as they prepare and enjoy a shared meal/snack!

FiftyForward has opportunities for volunteers to assist with a wide variety of programming for older adults enrolled in our FiftyForward Friends Adult Day Services Program.  Volunteers are needed to assist staff with bingo, arts and crafts, and karaoke. 

Volunteers help provide engagement and a sense of community for FiftyForward Friends clients. By bringing their own passions and interests to share in the Friends space, volunteers help clients to reconnect with their sense of self.

Our Café Program happens each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We are looking for singer/songwriters to come perform during the duration of our program. Our current musicians plan a set between 60 - 90 minutes of originals and covers. We ask that musicians arrive no later than 8:15am so that they can set up appropriately and we close our program by 10am.

Here at Room In The Inn, we provide over 225 meals a day. We are always in need of volunteers Monday - Friday from 11am - 1pm to help us provide the best lunch service possible. Our lunch program is a great way to engage with those experiencing homelessness while giving back to our community.

As a Puppy Raiser, you will play a crucial role in the ongoing development of our puppies, from 8 weeks old until they are ready for advanced training around 2 years old. Unlike the Starter role, which focuses solely on the initial care and basic socialization of young puppies, Raisers are responsible for maintaining and reinforcing the skills these dogs are learning during a longer period of the dogs’ focused training. This role is essential in ensuring our puppies are well-prepared for their future as service dogs.

We offer a co-raising option where you can partner with a friend or be matched with another volunteer. This allows you to share responsibilities and enjoy the experience together, making it easier to balance with your other commitments.

Throughout your time as a Raiser, you’ll have access to our community of experienced volunteers, trainers, and staff for any support or guidance you may need. Whether you have questions about puppy care or need tips on socialization, we’re here to help you every step of the way. RI will provide food, necessary supplies, and the cost of vet appointments.

Currently we are receiving pre-socialized puppies, so their training should be straightforward as they will already be familiar with house manners.

Throughout your time as a Starter, you’ll have access to our community of experienced volunteers, trainers, and staff for any support or guidance you may need. Whether you have questions about puppy care or need tips on socialization, we’re here to help you every step of the way. RI will provide food, necessary supplies, and the cost of vet appointments.

Puppy Sitters provide essential support by offering temporary care for our service dogs in training when their primary Raisers or other volunteers are unavailable. This role is perfect for those who want to be involved with our dogs on a flexible, as-needed basis. As a Sitter, you’ll help ensure that our dogs continue to receive the care, socialization, and training they need, even during short-term gaps in their regular routine.

Unlike Starters and Raisers who are involved in the long-term care and training of our service dogs, Sitters provide critical short-term support. This role is designed for those who prefer or require a flexible commitment but still want to contribute meaningfully to the success of our program. Sitters ensure that our dogs receive continuous care and training reinforcement, even when their regular caregivers are unavailable.

Flex Volunteers are versatile and adaptable members of our team, stepping in to meet various needs across the organization. This role is perfect for individuals who want to contribute in different capacities and enjoy the flexibility of engaging in a range of activities. Flex Volunteers might assist with events, transportation, administrative tasks, or other special projects, making them a vital part of our volunteer program. This role does not actively engage with our dogs and instead focuses on supporting our overall mission and goals.

While roles like Starters and Raisers focus on specific aspects of dog care and training, Flex Volunteers offer versatile support across the organization. This role is designed for those who want to be involved in a variety of activities and appreciate the flexibility to choose how and when they contribute. Flex Volunteers are essential for filling gaps and ensuring the smooth operation of our events, transport, and special projects.

Join us each Tuesday and Thursday from 3:40-5:00pm as we partner with the Hispanic Family Foundation to provide after school tutoring to refugee and immigrant children in East Nashville (no prior tutoring experience required)! For those that don't have homework, they need help with grammar and practicing conversational English!

This spot will take place at Plaza Mariachi, in front of the Hispanic Family Foundation! 

Everyone needs help sometimes, and we are here to support families in their time of need. Each month, our Pantry provides fresh, nutritious food to over 1,000 + families in the Greater Nashville area, giving them peace of mind from knowing there is food for their tables.

Nations Ministry Center is a local nonprofit that helps refugee families become generationally self-sufficient through a variety of services, including immigration assistance and educational programming. Located in Southeast Nashville, Nations Ministry Center works directly with families in the heart of some of the city's most culturally diverse neighborhoods.  

Nations Academy, a literacy tutoring initiative of Nations Ministry Center, helps refugee children close the literacy gap through targeted language development and homework assistance in a safe and supportive environment using Nashville's Vision for Holistic Youth Development to cultivate growth mindsets, connect social and emotional skills, and grow cognitive skills.

Volunteers are needed to assist refugee youth in the classroom with literacy practice, homework help, and community building. Materials are provided. We'll orient and prepare you for your role. You simply need to show up ready to encourage youth! Scheduled opportunities are available Mondays through Thursdays 3:15-6:15 (elementary classrooms) and 4:00-6:00 (middle school classrooms).

Keep in mind this is not a drop-in opportunity. Volunteers build friendships by volunteering on a consistent, once a week basis and must be scheduled to serve. The best fits for this role are:

Required service verification is available, as well as internship opportunities. Participants 18 or over must pass a required background check before serving. Lunch buddies are mentors who come eat lunch and spend time once a week with one of our scholars during their lunch periods on Monday - Friday.  You will visit with your “Buddy” during lunch and read, do crafts, play games, and ultimately form a positive relationship.  Consistency, positivity, and fun are what make a great lunch buddy! 

This is a weekly or biweekly commitment.  You can come ANY day of the week, as long as it’s during your Buddy’s assigned lunch period.

Steps to become a lunch buddy: 

We need set builders, propmasters/mistresses, lighting designers, light operators, sound engineers, costume assistants, publicity personnel, etc. to assist with the fall production.

The Wishes Foundation is actively searching for a thoughtful and driven Executive Director who is responsible for overseeing the operations, nances, and entertainment programming of the organization.
The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors and the Executive Board to lead volunteer recruitment activities, hit annual budget and revenue fundraising goals, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and develop strategic plans to drive the organization into the future. The Executive Director will also lead all training and costuming eorts, ensuring excellence in performance quality at all times, maintaining partner relationships, and driving the overall success of programming to make a positive impact in the Nashville community.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to and manages the Executive Board, performers, and external volunteers, facilitating meetings to identify and execute nancial goals and operational logistics
- Facilitates recruitment and casting of all performer roles and volunteer positions, executing thoughtful and thorough auditions while considering the overall culture of the organization
- Heads all duties in costume purchasing and upkeep while training performers to properly care for all organizational assets
- Develops and leads children’s activities for environments such as pediatric hospitals, social service institutions, and special needs schools
- Coordinates scheduling for all performers, volunteers, and photographers for rehearsals, performances, visits, and meetings
- Carries out all policies and procedures outlined by the organization for yearly operations, including membership, attendance, and disciplinary procedures
- Ensures 501(c)(3) compliance through legal and regulatory requirements
- Carefully manages all physical assets, online accounts, passwords, and cloud-based digital assets at all times
Requirements and Skills:
- A proven ability to lead others and inspire positive impacts in the communities in which they serve
- Maintains a willingness to spotlight accessibility, empathy, and strategy in all professional and personal instances
- Experience and/or great interest in fundraising eorts and volunteer recruitment
- Experience and/or great interest in entertainment programming within underserved communities and
demographics
Each role within The Wishes Foundation is 100% volunteer, meaning that none of our directors are compensated.
The Wishes Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-prot organization that exists to serve children in need by bringing the world's most beloved fairytale characters to life. Our volunteers provide entertainment programming to children in pediatric hospitals, special needs schools, and social service institutions with a common goal of fostering one-on-one interactions and providing personalized attention absolutely free of charge for all visit recipients. Emergency Kits

What you need: Gallon Ziploc Bag

Should Have- Ponchos, Emergency Blankets, Feminine Products (Pads), First-aid Kit (If not available use baind-aids and alcohol swabs)

Optional Items- Regular blanket, socks, razors

Steps: 

1. Grab a ziploc bag

2. Fill the bag with all the essential items and any of the optional items you might choose

3. Seal the bag

4. Send the bags to us or keep them in your vehicle and hand them out when you see someone on the streets

Get Involved with the Tennessee PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network) throughout the year! 

Whether you are looking to be involved year round in a key volunteer role or assist at various community events, there's something for everyone! You will be a part of a large group of dedicated volunteers from across the country committed to taking action, demanding better and advocating for pancreatic cancer patients/their families. 

Throughout the year the Tennessee Affiliate is looking for volunteers that want to help increase visibility about the world's toughest cancer - pancreas. Some items might consist of: 

- Recruiting Volunteers for PanCAN PurpleStride Tennessee 

- Making phone calls to previous PurpleStride participants 

- Attending Community Events/Distributing Collateral Materials 

- Planning various community events/fundraisers 

There's something for everyone! Together, we can increase the 5-year survival rate from 13% to 20%. 

The Little Theatre's scene shop and our costume "shop" located in Shane Hall needs organizing.  Student volunteers are needed.
