Volunteer: Share a Hobby or a Skill

At Dismas, we believe that in order to best support our residents who are leaving incarceration and reentering society, we should focus on the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. This means that our program covers everything from job readiness to finding passion and fun!

At Dismas, you have an opportunity to add to our programming by introducing new skills and activities to our residents! These hobbies may help residents explore fun, creativity, and community engagement. This could include anything from art and music to hiking or cooking.  Take the opportunity to ignite passion and spark hope as residents go through our reentry program.

For more information, sign up through Get Connected or email Jordan Collins at jcollins@dismas.org.

Dear Potential Volunteer,

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, you are strongly encouraged to volunteer virtually rather than in person. In fact, many in-person volunteer opportunities have been cancelled in response to concerns over the virus. If you are considering volunteering for this Need, even though it’s not advised at this time, please be sure and contact the agency directly before signing up to make sure that the opportunity is still scheduled, and follow all of the CDC’s Guidelines to protect yourself and others.

If you choose to volunteer in person, you agree that you understand the associated risks and accept them.

For information about Virtual Volunteering, please check out http://getconnected.belmont.edu/virtual-volunteer-opportunities/

Stay safe and well!

Volunteer: Community Dinner Volunteer

Spend time getting to know our residents by preparing and sharing a meal for twenty residents in our beautiful home just 2 miles from Belmont's Campus. Community dinners are a vital part of what we do at Dismas House and take place Monday-Thursday every week of the year.

Get a group together and put your cooking skills to the test in our kitchen, while also broadening your understanding of criminal justice reform and what Dismas is doing to help returning citizens that have been negatively affected by the criminal justice system.

In addition to responding in Get Connected, please Dismas's Hands On Nashville site to see what dates are available and sign up for a specific date.

For more information, please MC Sammons at msammons@dismas.org.

We can't wait to have you join us!
