Students who sign up for this opportunity are usually asked to perform the following general activities:

  • Assist with set up and preparation of space (Appleton Room may require set up of chairs and adding or removal of tables)
  • Cleanup of space before and after the event
  • Assistance with the setup and takedown of audio/video, decorations, and other setups as needed
  • Guest Services: Passing out programs, seating general audience and honored guests, aiding elderly and mobility-challenged guests, assistance with children and crying babies, assistance with clearing out the audience once the event is over
  • Assists with the needs of the performing guests and student performers, including dressing, makeup, mic placement, food delivery, and pre-show assistance.
  • Onstage duties may include set up, scene changes, moving furniture and instruments, etc.
  • Supernumeraries - Non-singing and acting performers who are on stage during a scene to facilitate a need
  • Other tasks as assigned and needed

Rehearsals have more detailed tasks. When this opportunity arises, an email will be sent to the student body, detailing specific needs, duties, days, and times.

This opportunity is available to any student at Fisk. Signing up for this opportunity means the Music Department may contact you in advance of the event for your availability. Volunteers are asked to be prepared to wear black for most formal events. No, you will not be asked to perform or sing. :-)
